Driveways & Patios, Built From The Ground Up
Driveways, patios and garden design across Bridgend and South Wales. Surfaces that stay level and drain properly, because the work below them was not skipped.
Where The Value Lies
A driveway is four distinct stages of work, and the visible surface is the least costly of them. Omit any layer and South Wales rainfall will expose it within two winters. That photograph illustrates why our quotations are structured as they are: most of the value is in the ground.
- Drainage planned first. Falls, channels and soakaways designed before excavation begins.
- A sub-base built for cars. Compacted stone at the correct depth for vehicle loading.
- Bedding that holds. Screeded sand or full mortar beds, the layer that determines long-term stability.
- Then the surface. Block, resin, tarmac, porcelain or stone, selected for the property and laid to correct falls.
THE FOUNDATION LAYERDriveway Surface Options
Block Paving
A proven choice for Bridgend properties: repairable brick by brick, permeable options available, and patterns to suit every era of house.
Resin Bound
Seamless, permeable and smart. Laid over a proper base, it sheds Welsh rain without puddling and never loosens like gravel.
Tarmac
The cost-effective option, finished with a block-paved border and proper edging for a sharp result.
Patios Laid On Full Beds
Porcelain and natural stone laid on full mortar beds with correct falls, ensuring effective drainage and long-term stability, finished with durable jointing compounds.
- Porcelain: colour-fast, frost-proof, wipe-clean
- Natural stone: pennant, limestone and sandstone character
- Steps, edging and retaining details built in

Garden Design: The Plan Before The Slab
Designing before building avoids costly rework. Levels, zones, planting, lighting and year-round use are resolved as a single scheme before any construction begins.
The build can then be phased to suit the budget: boundaries first, surfaces next, planting after, with no work repeated because the scheme was planned as a whole.
- Layout and levels resolved as one scheme
- Materials chosen for the South Wales climate
- Phased builds priced stage by stage

Across Bridgend & South Wales
Driveways, patios and garden design built from our Bridgend base on Coity Road, with most projects inside twenty minutes of home: Pencoed, Porthcawl, Maesteg, Cowbridge, Pyle, Ogmore Vale and the villages between. Being local matters on ground works: ground conditions vary street by street in this area, and each base is designed for the conditions found on site.
For projects further afield across South Wales, any travel costs are stated clearly within the quotation. If you are within forty minutes of Bridgend, we would welcome your enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does A Driveway Take?
A typical driveway takes five to ten days, with excavation and base preparation accounting for most of the programme. The quotation states the programme.
Do I Need Planning Permission?
Not where the surface is permeable or drains to a lawn or soakaway, which is how we design them. We advise on the rare exceptions.
Can You Just Do The Surface Over My Old Drive?
We do not overlay a failed base; it fails again and takes the new surface with it. We price the job that lasts.
Porcelain Or Natural Stone?
Porcelain offers low maintenance and colour consistency; natural stone offers character that improves with age. We bring samples to the site visit.
